HELP
! we are helping to care for this sweet gosling.a kind person saved him from drowning in a pond. For about 6 weeks someone has been caring for him,he seems healthly, eats well, and can swim rather well.He cannot walk,so cannot survive in the wild.He cannot get his own food so we dig worms for him,and offer different grasses and dandelions for him to eat.Does anyone know if we can hobble his legs now,in hopes of helping him to weight bear and maybe walk,or isbit to late.

I don't know if taking the goose to the vet is an option, but x-rays to determine if hips have rotated and set in that position would help. A sling contraption similar to a baby's walker is better than hobbling. They can be made with PVC tubing, castor wheels, and a towel for about $20.

If you use a hobble, I would tape cushioning, such as a cotton ball, around the loops so that the string doesn't imbed in its skin. I've used hobbles before on my birds with no problems, as long as there is cushioning.
