I have 2 6 week old buffs that I’m unsure of the sex. I think they are cockerels but I would like more input. Also please tell me why you believe one way or the other. I’m still green and would love to learn any tricks y’all have. Thanks!

I don't think they are both Buff Orpingtons...

One has yellow legs which is not correct. Is it possible you have a Buff Plymouth Rock instead? The young bird with white legs appears to be a male. The yellow legged bird looks like a pullet. But I'd give it another week or two to be certain.

Smaller one is a cockerel, larger one is a pullet I think. I think buff birds tend to look a little more pink in the face even as pullets, so it can be deceiving. But I see no emerging wattles like in the smaller cockerel.

They both look feathered out pretty good at just 6 weeks to be cockerels. I agree the yellow legs aren’t Orp legs. The white legs do look pretty heavy for the age.

Any dominant type of behavior from either ?
