The two of mine which both have a comb fight quite a lot, but I heard they do a pecking order even if they are just hens too

Yup, the large red comb and wattles are a sign of him being a rooster.

I got them by mail order - I'm in the Uk - it was a company who sell Wellsummers, Indian game and Cuckoo Maran amongst others. The one I think is an Indian game hatched out of a white egg - if that gives anymore information!

The Indian game looks like a hen, not sure about the wellsummer. Probably a pullet, but like chicken girl1 said, check back a little later to be sure.
