OMG... 6 week old pure Australorp cockerel trying to crow already, maybe he can hear the rooster across the road.
they are still in the brooder inside as we have a spare room right down the other end of the house, we cant hear them from the main part of the house.
In the five years i've been raising chooks i have never seen this happen so early. Is this normal ?

I've had a few mixed breeds crow at around 5 or 6 weeks. It's seriously cute when they're that little and trying to crow. :D
yes very cute and funny too :lau

In my experience it has been relatively common with some bantam breeds but not so common with large fowl cockerels. Such cockerels frequently start mating precociously also.
these are regular size, suppose they're called large size.
Should i separate him into his own cage until i can get them outside or just keep an eye on him to see if he's trying to mate.

Just finishing off the inside of the coop outside, as i have pressure washed the coop and re-designed all the perches, since i have no chooks (due to a natural disaster, bloody gum trees and fox's) untill these ones go out there.
