Hi everyone. This morning I noticed a small handful of feathers. I think they are from from 6 week old Rhode Island Blue. I am not noticing any bare patches, and he gets along well with the brown leghorn. I know young chicks go through a small molt, could this be it? My other concern is that she may be a he. Not sure though.

At that age, I would say the loss is due to molt.

You can post some photos of the bird in question - get a few showing the whole bird. Hopefully someone can help tell if it's a pullet or cockerel. I'm not very good at the gender game LOL

It's so hard to get good pictures. Here are a few. She's supposed to be a Rhode Island Blue, but I can't find any pictures that look like her or a him. So I am not even sure it is what I think. I vasilate back and forth. Sometimes I think, her body type just looks like a girl, short to the ground, wider legs. Cute fluffy bottom. But them other times, I see her tail peaking up, and are these feathers maybe a loss due to getting rooster tail feathers? Idk.

She is cute. Thank you so much. Her breed does already have an upturned tail, even the females, but they aren't supposed to have red, those are the roos, but the roos I have seen have more red than she does. So, I think because of the fact I cannot find anyting for sure. I won't know til she actually lays eggs or starts to crow! lol
