6 week old Pekin can’t walk

Instead of giving him 1/2ml a day of the niacin, do 1ml a day. And just as a note, your brewer's yeast contains little niacin content in it, you may consider switching to nutritional yeast.

Keep giving the B complex, but it does seem unlikely a niacin deficiency would be the problem since it happened in a very short period of time.

Do you have a video of him walking?
Thank you! I do have Organic Nutritional Yeast.

I should explain that we notified two weeks ago that his growth compared to our other pekin was significantly lower. My husband kept asking why he wasn’t as big as Sophie (other pekin) and why he wasn’t honking like her.

I’m attaching pics of him. He’s a lot smaller than our other duck.

How long did it take for him to start walking and standing again? I’m giving Niacin twice a day and brewers yeast.

Took a few days before he could take more than a couple steps

His legs are still weak and he doesn’t stand in place. But he can walk almost all the way across the yard now where as he could maybe take a step or two before having to sit down for a few minutes

I think he grew so fast his legs never got strong enough to support him naturally without the B supplements

Please get the liquid B complex advised in that thread and start asap treating. There's hope but this needs to start asap.
Thank you! My daughters and I couldn’t just cry. We want to do whatever we can to save him!

This is what he looked like on July 8th. Healthy and running.

How long has he been like this? I can clearly see he is having trouble there also. It can be so gradual it's missed. And running isn't so good for heavy weight ducks their legs are having enough trouble just holding up their bodies. So get the liquid B complex and start him on it quick over a tasty treat. I would give it to both Pekins. And once you see improvement keep it up because this is something you will probably have to do all their lives. After 10 weeks you can start them on Nutritional yeast sprinkled over their feed a couple times a week. But for now you need the best stuff to get him through this. 1 tab per cup of feed for the nutritional yeast and 1 ml over treats per duck for now of the liquid b complex. And don't worry about it saying injectable just peel off the foil and use a dropper or needless syringe and draw out 1 ml per duckling.

He seemed to still be in good health; at least walking, running, and standing with no problems two weeks ago. My husband said that he seemed to not be growing like Sophie three weeks ago. Being new duck owners, we were not aware of the Niacin deficiency until a week ago.

We’re praying for him every day! They are my daughters first pets and they just adore them. I have raised horses, dogs, and rabbits but never ducks. I should have read about the Niacin deficiency prior to purchasing them.
