here I am again, with 3 saphire gem “pullets”. I’m almost positive there are 2 cockerels if not three. The darker colored “boy” already has barring coming in also. the 90% rule is failing me!

The pullets in this hybrid tend to get large, red wattles and combs early. There is a long Sapphire Gem thread on here if you want to check it out. A lot of SG owners thought they'd been mistakenly given cockerels, but their birds were pullets.

Because the males only have one barring gene it's not always apparent right away, especially if it's a light color.

Personally I think the middle one may be a cockerel, but top and bottom look like SG pullets to me.

Top two are roos for sure. Last one is a pullet. All sapphire gem chicks that I’ve seen with the yellow ring around the eyes ended up being roosters. I believe it is part of the barring gene showing through.
