6 Weeks Old, are they "normal"? Pics Update Pg3!!!!

Ok.. here's what i was able to get...
btw.. it's really hard to take pics with my camera phone AND keep track of who I took a picture of.. have to work today and can't get them into the tractor.. so these will have to do for now.

After looking through the pictures myself... I'm thinking maybe I only have 2 hens?!!!???!!! out of 7 chickens

oh boy.. what do you think...
I used baby yogurt to catch their attention this time..

Im still going roo on all of them. I had some that I thought were pullets myself and ended up being roosters. I'll try to take some pics of mine so you can see

ALL???

wow..

how on earth did I get 7 roos out of a straight run! that's just crazy!

well.. thank god I ordered 8 australorp pullets! now to hope I don't get a batch of mistaken identities there too! what are those odds!!!!!!

now I need my bator eggs to hatch even more! been candling the same one egg every 4 days since day 9.. so far so good

straight run , I would NOT except ALL roosters , NO WAY

These guys, as I suppose it's appropriate now to call them, didn't come from one of those "online" hatcheries, they came from a backyard breeder here locally. I'm certain he didn't plot against me, and while it will suck that I won't get any eggs till late winter, I still have 8 pullets coming from an online hatchery next week, and black eggs (also 3 blue) in the bator now from BamaChicken.

Roos are ok.. I planned on keeping 3 to breed, and use couple for free range insect eating around the house.. looks like I'm well on my way.. and I still have many more to come...

I wonder now if I'll feel differently toward them.. LOL, now that there aren't any cute girlies in there..

p.s. I just love Orpingtons.. they remind me of little old ladies at the hair parlor chit chattering, or all dressed up in their sunday best, hair done, overcoats over their fluffy petticoats.. funny.. I guess I found my breed

most pics of buff orp hens have the really bright red comb and wattles (terminology right?) mine is 9 weeks and theyre pretty bright compared to the austrolorp and andalusian hens... someone said "its not a roo until it crows" so maybe theres hope yet

Yes , but the ratio is suppose to be 1 rooster for every 10 hens or your eggs will be over fertilized . and roosters will totally wear out the hens .
