So I have three chicks I'm curious about. Two of them I'm pretty certain of (the black one and the single comb), but the red one I'm now wavering on. I know it's still a bit early but I thought I would ask! (I also have six polish chicks that I know will take much longer to sex.) These are all backyard mixes.

Black chick: I want to say is a pullet.

Single comb chick with the eye liner: I think is a pretty obvious cockerel based on comb and wattles.

Red chick: I actually don't have a guess anymore!

I have 4 pullets (at least sold as pullets) and they are 6 weeks old. Their combs arent that big, but they are pink or a little red, with yellow on the tip. They also all have very visible wattles that are also pink or red. I think that chick with the eyeliner still has hope to be a hen!! Here's one of them.

The chick with eyeliner has male-coloring. His coloring is duckwing. Females would have salmon breasts :)

Omg! I have an easter egger that was sexed a hen that has that exact coloring. How could the hatchery mis-sex it if it's a male coloring? Are there exceptions? I already have like 3 roos in my batch of chicks 😭

Hatcheries vent sex chicks at just a day old so their sex-specific coloring hasn't even come in yet (unless they are a sex-linked or auto-sexing breed).
