This would be just for my Bantam hens. They are tiny and I just figured it looked like an okay opening after I built it. Just looking at it now and it does look small. The 6" is the width and the 10" is the height .

I am not an expert, but I am looking at my 9.75" X 7.5" notebook and I think that looks plenty big enough for a chicken. Are your chickens full grown? Can you try it out? I don't really know if there is a prescription for door size.

I keep Banty's as well, and have a pop hole much the same as your size. I used an oval for mine. I see that even my Barred Rocks and RIR hens can get through that size, should they wish to do so. Birds look a lot bigger than they are. I thought no way the LF would gain access, but they do and I just look at them and smile. Chickens do that to people.

Best to you and your birds,

RJ
