I doubt the kid got in the balloon. However, being the skeptic that I am, I did a little back of the envelope math, and while I'm guessing at the size/volume (maybe 1500 cubic feet?) of the baloon, it might have been able to lift about 95 lbs., so I would not rule out it getting a plywood box and a kid off the ground if the kid did actually get inside, and if the box even had a door.
I suppose it would depend on how much that plywood weighed, and how much the kid weighed, and how close my guess is as to the balloon's volume. I'm guessing that if a balloon that size could lift a plywood box and a kid, it wouldn't be getting off the ground all that fast.
Not sure why they got a hot air ballon expert to talk about a helium ballon, maybe he's multi-talented.
I am watching it and now they say the kids not in the balloon. so where is he? scary. sorry I didn't read all the posts. but yeah Im watching it so scary and sad
Wombat, he looks like a pretty small 6 year old too. My tall but skinny 8 year old daughter only weighs 50 lbs... figure the 6 year old might weight about 40-45 lbs or so... ??
According to the local news the balloon was part of the whole storm watching thing they were in to and it was made to carry storm watching supplies like a camera and batteries and transmission type machines?
I hate to say it but my years as a foster parent make me cynical in these situations and I always wonder if the supposed disappearance isn't meant to cover up something more sinister.
The FOX anchor just questioned why the brothers had video cameras... I wonder if the boys plotted to put their brother inside and launch him, which might explain the reason for the cameras.
Oh Lord, Glen Beck is on... gotta turn off the tv now and make dinner.
