I have a duck egg that is now 60 hours past external pipping and still hasn't hatched. It is likely malpositioned as it pipped about halfway up the egg instead of in the air cell. Its sibling hatched 24 hours ago without assistance. It appears to have stopped making the chewing motion (although it does open its mouth every so often) and is just breathing regularly but I am worried that the blood vessels have not retracted properly. I dampened the membranes with coconut oil, and I'm seeing some thin red veining, which would normally keep me away but the fact its been 60 hours surprises me. I've gently removed the shell over the pip to try encourage it to come out but I think it may have to be a full assist. Sorry for the picture quality not being the best, I didn't want to pull it out of the incubator, but does anyone have advice?.

Got it out, had to remove a large amount of shell and membrane for it to be able to push itself out. It has some of the internal membrane stuck on its wing so I'll have to figure out how to get it off without damaging it.

Just dampen it and you can peel it off after it's damp.

Both ducklings are doing well (membrane easily peeled off) but when I tried to put the one born today into the brooder with the older one born yesterday, the older one keeps attacking the other! It's pecking at its eyes, beak and pulling on its feathers. Is this normal duckling behaviour that'll settle or should I be doing something to help? I'm currently giving them turns in the brooder while one either goes in the incubator (with humidity down) or cuddles with me.

Have you given them food and a container of water they can't swim in yet? Usually, food/water keeps them occupied.

Is that last one totally dry and running around too? If not, I'd leave that one in the incubator overnight.

When I first introduced them the little one was still a tiny bit wet and they had water but they were out of food as I was waiting on a new bag of higher niacin food to arrive. Once I put the new food in and the small one was more active they've had way less problems. Occasionally the big one will peck the little one but the little one fights back so they stop. They've even started snuggling together.
