6mo old.. I still don’t know if it’s a pullet or roo.

Wow! That really is quite a change! I really love her dark brown eyes too!
Oh my goodness, I just realized we don’t have nest boxes! She was my first chicken and we weren’t expecting her to lay until spring, I hadn’t really thought about her laying honestly. She seems so young still😟 If she has to, will she lay in her coop shavings? (They are cleaned every day)

Yes, she will lay in them. I could tell when Phoenix was about to lay because one day she just kept wandering round looking in everything, never settling in one spot. She kept searching everywhere as if she had lost something. She was making that calling sound they make when they are wandering round. Then the next day she laid her first blue egg! And don't worry about not having nest boxes yet, we just used an old tyre and filled it with hay. Those photo's of Phoenix with the big comb, she is laying an egg in an open bag of sugar cane mulch! And my first Sussex chicken laid an egg in our old push chair which was in our shed (our chickens pretty much had the run of the place:)).

Ok cool! I'll observe her and post updates. I'll also make her a little nest in the shavings she can use if she wants.

I can't believe she's close! She's gonna be a real hen

That is such a lovely story about where her name came from!
Well there were a few reasons why the name fit!
1, she has a cross beak, and in the movies the wanted posters are always showing Flynn with funny nose shapes, plus it’s like she has eternal smoulder😂
2, when she was having trouble walking her legs would get ‘tangled’
3, movie Flynn has great hair, and chicken Flynn does too!
It fit well😂

Yes, definitely a great name for her! And she does do a pretty good smoulder!!! I actually just watched the movie about a week ago.
