The Hatching usually goes over a week period because of eary and late set eggs. We also have different breeds that hatch at different times.

My Australorps have about finished hatching but the Trader Joes chicks have not pipped yet. They were both set on the same day at the same time but they will be two days apart for hatching.

Beautiful!! I want the white "butt" on the left!!

Yes, that is a very cute chick!

They often stress the legs--get some vitamins in the chick. If it can stand and eat it should be ok.

Okay, thanks.

Okay so I've had one little guy who is zipped maybe a quarter of the way and hasn't made any progress in a couple hours. How do I know if it is stuck?

I was told this many years ago, animals need to struggle to strengthen themselves for their new lives. In the case of birds, they strengthen their legs, neck and other muscles through the hatching process. When we interfere, their muscles aren't getting the exercise that they need to be strong and healthy. With deer, cow, goat...any quadruped, most of the time mommy harasses them until they stand, for this same purpose. EDIT: (With the exception of predators because they don't need to get "up and running" right away)

So if you love your chick, don't help it!!! Let it struggle for its own good. Of course, that being said, some cases are the exception.

That's great news. ♡ My breech chick hatched relatively easily all on her own, too.
