Wow. That's really cool lol

Check our Sally sunshine's article for great and fantastic information on wrong end pippers for lots of help.

Generally, you want to get the egg tilted back up so the the end with the pip is higher. Make sure the chicks beak is visible in the pip and it is not clogged up with goo. Let the chick go as long as possible without helping it. A lot of them will get out fine. Watch for it to start zipping and stop and listen for the peeps getting weaker.

I had a Delaware that pipped the wrong end and the chick eventually broke out like it was the Hulk!

I've had a few wrong end pips hatch on their own, some needed assistance and lived and some died. I am not an expert, far from it, but I think the best thing to do is keep that humidity high and wait 24 hours.

:jumpy  Woohoo!

:yuckyuck

:lau  Well there's a mental image that I never expected to have :lau

:weee Congrats on all the pips! Hoping the little confused chickie makes it okay. I've never had to deal with it either so I don't have any advice for you sorry. Looks like others picked up the slack though :)

I'm worried about the yellow stain on the membrane. I am going to read through your references and suggestions. And probably sit tight like Kathy said for 24 hours..on a better note..7 pips and one hatch!

Yes watch it but there is no amber goo coming out and it looks like the chick can breath. The egg does not look too tight in the end so there is a good chance the chick will be able to zip. Try to keep humidity up to 70%.

I found Bantam Cochin eggs!!! I will be giving them to my broody on 12/11 and ringing in the new year with a bunch of new chicklets... Hatching on the

For some reason, I have at least one wrong end pipper in each batch! My last 10 ducks that hatched had 3. For chicks, 24 hours from pip is about perfect to help them if they don't finish on their own. My seramas always pip the wrong end too. Almost every one of mine have been a healthy chick or duckling.

As long as you incubate in a room with central heat. And have in mind a place to keep them warm til spring it would be ok. I have to warn you that deep drops in temperature will give you major problems with you're hatch. My first batch only made it half way because our cabin only has space heaters and they could not keep up with the cold nights. I'm moving my second hatch to warmer acomadations for the hatch along. I live in central Texas so spring is coming around valentines day. You might consider only hatching a few chicks so its easier to winter all of them. They grow really fast. What looked like plenty of room in the start won't look that way when their a few months old.
