I got my eggs on the mail today... Can I still wait until the 11th to put them into the incubator?.. Or that's too far away?.. First time doing this and I am so nervous and excited!.. Please let me know what you guys think...

So there is a major storm heading into my area on Thursday and Friday - forcast is for wind gusts above 60 mph and "widespread power outages". I need to decide if I should set the eggs at noon on Thursday and just hope we don't loose power or wait until the storm passes and set them late. Has anyone had any experience loosing power during the first couple days of incubation?

Oh man, hope that wind dies down before the storm gets here..we usually get your leftovers, or, the storm itself if it's a big one. :/

For me it has depended on the roo... My EE roo had 8 girls and I only ever see him mate 5.... Weird bird... The BO has 5 girls and the other fella has 15.... One of the EEs hens is a little bare backed right now, she's his favourite...

Bare backed hens, we call them ...easy...

because they don't run, they squat for the roo. I've seen roos chase some and give up.

I've got my new 'bator heating up and am going to try this. Please sign me up. This will be my first time and as a virgin hatcher I am quite intimidated.

I have a Brinsea Eco 20 with the turner. I am thinking you guys have said the temp should be 99.5, but what humidity am I looking for. I live in TN. where it has rained for 9 straight days, so we have plenty of natural humidity...just no sun. I am only getting a temp of 95 by the Brinsea thermometer. The thermometer/humidity monitor I got at Walmart says 90 degrees and 29% humidity with the vent 3/4 closed. So I'm thinking I need to adjust the temp some. What should my humidity be though? The air is so wet you can wring it out so I haven't put any water into the incubator yet. All this is prep work for the big day. My hens are laying like there is no tomorrow, and they may believe that with the serious lack of sun, so I have plenty of eggs. Going to set RCM, blue copper marans, birchen marans and some blue egg laying mutts.

Thanks in advance for the moral support. I've had my incubator since July and have been scared to try this. It seems very complicated.

I'm in, I'm in! Missed it last year as I was relying on a broody (which I seemingly always have, except when there's a hatch-a-long). Now I've got a 'bater! Now....what to set....

Like I always say when someone asks, or wonders...you will want to set ... some eggs.

Grrr, very frustrated...apparently my 2 day priority from AR is going to take 5 days to get here?! No wonder the USPS is going out of business for lack of use.

My eggs shipped today and I tracked them...they are saying delivery on Friday, the 12th, right next to 2 Day Priority. Who taught them how to count? I'm officially pouting!

My adopted Copper Marans just resumed laying a few weeks ago and my incubator showed up a day early, so I am going to give this a shot.
I'll be setting x of these.
