What kind? You know, if there aren't pictures, it didn't happen...............just sayin'.

All the bells and whistles, but in reality this unit is more of a "Hail Mary" pass because I'm at a high altitude (5200) and it's really hard to keep the humidity and temps just right (which are higher for both, apparently, as a local hatcher has told me....makes sense as high altitude baking requires higher temps and more liquid). If shipped eggs are to have a chance, gotta give them the best chance possible.

This year I've spent a small fortune on shipped eggs with a mere 5 pullets to show for two full incubators' worth. (Still cheaper at this point than buying a flock from Greenfire!) Anyway, it would probably be less expensive to buy the chicks I want, but I'm an admitted hatchaholic. So we keep trying despite the discrepancies in shell pore size of sea level vs. mountains which adds an extra handicap to shipped eggs...that and prescrambling by the USPS.
Yes, DH is an enabler (and I love him for it). He's the one that said "Why don't you hatch some eggs and build a coop?" I'm discovering that those two things should be done in reverse order, though.

Howard & Rosa's eggs are in the Colemanator which is working better than ever.

That is quite a handsome pair you've got there!

I think different TSC's get them from different places. Ours uses Privett. Your RIR are lighter because they haven't been bred to the standard. Commercial hatcheries pretty much breed for quantity not quality. I am sure yours are delightful though. If you like the breed I suggest getting them from a heritage breeder next time. You will be thrilled with those.

That is such a wonderful thing for them to do. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
