Now that's an idea. I should make a list and check it twice. Instead of coal, an egg about to explode. All the duds and eggs that dont hatch should be mailed to my ex-wifes divorce lawyer

Welcome aboard!Well, I know it's too late to be in this. But I have enjoyed reading and chatting with everybody. And I'm not going to stop because I've got EGGS coming in tomorrow. They will be set too late but who cares. I'm just joining the fun.![]()
Beautiful! For those of you who couldn't pry yourselves away from the incubator, here's a picture of tonight's sunset you missed.
(Sandia Mountains from Corrales, 12-16-14)
They say artists flock to New Mexico because the light is so inspirationally good. This view caught my eye, just wish the camera caught the shadows better.
Okay. Y'all can go back to trying not to candle......
So, I had a dream last night. Well, two dreams but the second one I won't get into too much detail about because it dealt with X-Men style mutants being raised in an orpanage by a staff that had no idea that these kids were special. I woke up after they had gotten the call that there was a major mission that they had to undertake. Of course, their first task was to escape from the orphanage without being caught or found out. Just when the security and one of the head staffers was trying to catch them all after they'd gotten out of the building and were on the lawn, I woke up so I don't know if they escaped or not.
The dream that I really wanted to post about was a simple one. I dreamt that on day 6 (which is today) of my HAL clutch, I went to the incubator to turn the eggs but they had all hatched!!! I was so surprised, confused and panicked. Here I was scrambling around, not to get things ready to transport them to the brooder but instead to get a camera, get them all together and still long enough to take a group photo. I had my brother helping me and all I could think was "it has to be a clear photo so Ron can count them."
I never did really question how they could have hatched that early. My only other real concern was that they were almost fully feathered so Ron might not believe that these were my HAL clutch.
LOL
No! Never!
I still so want some of those jammies.I have my own run i bought at TSC with a cat box inside which i call my "broody coop" its a simple set up and i can send pics if youd like.
I wait for the eggs to hatch and block off he entrance of the coop so no bird can go in from pipped to hatch times so its just the momma and the babies. Then i move my broody and the chicks to the broody coop. I can post something on youtube for you too! Just let me know
I actually legit wear a chicken suit when i candle... Its pretty classy![]()

@bamadude this would be the perfect time to candle those alligator and rattlesnake eggs since the thread is fairly quiet. I'll call 911 for you if you get hurt.
911 Operator: 911. What's your emergency?
Me: This guy I know was candling his alligator and rattlesnake eggs and he got bit by both! What do I do???

That is great!Candling Report: 3 clears, 2 questionable and 18 beautifully veined eggs. All my bantams and Mottled Orp are growing so I am Super Stoked!![]()
$100 fine and 15 push upsWell I candled, sort of.
The pen light thingy my DH gave me to try was only strong enough for the lightest shelled eggs.
& the Dewalt rechargeable was not fully charged so it started going dim on me
So I candled my 14 day along due Dec 24 batch A & things looked good-- 33 looked alive, 12 way too dark to candle, so 45/64 still going.
Then I moved over to the actual HYD HAL & while the flashlights were getting dim fast I found very little to be happy about in the eggs I tried to check.
I'm hoping it was just bad light, but I'm concerned the really old eggs are not developing (good I set half of those eggs the wk prior!)
& then I tried to check some of my own fresh eggs & there wasn't much to see either which is worrisome but maybe it was just the dimming flashlight...
I know my own eggs were doing well in bator A, so the other issue maybe that the older LG is not keeping hot enough, so development is sloooow & hard to see on day7.
I'm intending to tweek the temp up just a little & re-candle w/ a recharged flashlight on say day 10 (if I can hold out that long).
I'm kinda freaking now b/c several ppl have asked to come watch eggs hatch on New Years Day, & I'm not sure now if there is going to be much hatching to see.
(At least I should have some still fluffy week olds in a brooder for the little kids to pet I hope!)
