I keep smelling my eggs cause some of them are dark. Glad no one has seen me sniffing my eggs! When does water candling work? That seems like it would work better than my nose.

Actually, a couple of mine that looked very clear that I candled tonight, I almost wrote off but then, I noticed just the slightest movement in one so I'd say wait til day 14 and candle again before you make an executive decision.

@ bamadude no fine for me, I'm day 7 so its ok to candle!
unless the fine is for failure to candle...or failure of flashlight to be bright enough...or failure to make good candling notes.

I jurt got my premire one brooder in on monday and i really like it so far! Im going to start running it ince i get my brooder box set up

And its a small! Im impressed with the size! I can easily fit 20-30 chicks depending on the size of them!

The legs are hard to pop in at first but changing the level is easy and excellent!

very cool!! I need to decide soon which plate I am going to get or if I want to use the heat lamp I have. Please keep us posted on your thoughts once you plug it in and it starts heating things up.

No, wait for day 10 to 14 and only toss them if they are eggs you can see into. Dark shelled eggs stay in unless the smell bad.

Yes! Sometimes eggs that look like they have a blood ring will be good a couple of days later.
