Oh no, I think I missed the start date. I'll start some tonight anyway.

Here is the picture of the damaged egg. I candled it and it does have veins . What do I do? What do I do? Will nail polish fix this?

seroiusly? Nothing will fix that...i hate to be the person to tell u whats really up but...there is no way that egg will ever be anything more than a bloodshot omelette...

Ok, damaged egg has been taped and put back under the hen.

it keeps developing. I noticed a couple eggs had no development so tomorrow I will pull them. I didn't want to stress the hens out anymore tonight. It took me a few minutes to find the cracked egg in the dark because I didn't want scare my hens with a lot of light I didn't shine the flashlight directly on them. Thanks for all the help. I will let y'all know how the egg does.

Oh well. I will wait and see. I wanted to tell you that I got the flashlight today that you told me about. It is great! My husband now wants one like it. I can see very well in our darkest egg our Golden Comet lays. Thanks for the help!

Oh My gosh. This thread moves at lightning speed. There is no way I can keep up. Well maybe after tomorrow when I take my first semester nursing school finals. Well today was day 7 for me and I just candled!

Out of 8 eggs, ALL 8 have great veining!!!!

I have 4 black/black bantam cochin and 4 silver/gold laced wyandotts, so I am really excited to see what I get. I just had 2 black/black bantam cochins hatch Sunday and this is what I got. Somehow it has white and almost looks mottled. I guess we will see as it grows, it's still the cutest, tiniest little thing. I can't wait to hopefully have 4 more at new years. I also have a few in the bator for a Christmas hatch next week that are doing great.

Congrats on a successful candling!!! Please post photos of your bantam cochins as they grow. I have 8 bantam cochin (blue and splash) eggs in my 'bator for the NYD hatch. I so hope I end up with some cuties like yours! Where did you get your eggs from?

If I had candled them, I would have found that about 15 of 24 are already showing veins...I would have been very excited....

If that is the case, I'm sure I would have congratulated you...
