Oh no, I think I missed the start date. I'll start some tonight anyway.

I started some today, too!

And have some more arriving that will be set on Monday. (I couldn't resist pencilled rocks! I told my hubby that I have...uh... 12 eggs, total. After Monday, I'll have 40! I think I have a problem! ugh!)
There is a Jan. HAL, but I can hardly keep up with this one, so I don't know if I could handle a second, simultaneous, HAL!

Ok, damaged egg has been taped and put back under the hen.

it keeps developing. I noticed a couple eggs had no development so tomorrow I will pull them. I didn't want to stress the hens out anymore tonight. It took me a few minutes to find the cracked egg in the dark because I didn't want scare my hens with a lot of light I didn't shine the flashlight directly on them. Thanks for all the help. I will let y'all know how the egg does.

Sounds good..do let us know how it is looking...wishing you well with this one..so many have done just this, and had a chick before they knew it! You never know.

The eggs are white shelled--last time I hatched them they were Leghorns.

Gotta have some eggs in our Trader Joe's! I love leghorns.

I have a light for each breeder pen but maybe it was not enough.

The smell is strong but actually seeing the feat is interesting, interesting to see the coordination to be able to hit his own face.    But personally I find it funnier when he tests the does urine.  The faces he makes while drinking their urine are so hilarious.

Gotta love that curled up lip. Lmao!

I'm trying hard to rebuild our poultry, so this hatch means a lot to us.

Can't wait to get them hatched and put the next lot in. It will be the last hatch until the weather cools down again. I'm not sure if I want to attempt any winter hatches though. Might focus on the chicks I build up and wait not so patiently until spring rolls around again.


I'll be sadly skipping the Easter HAL, because March is our hottest time of the year and I don't want to run my incubator in the temperatures we get out here. It would just be a waste of precious eggs IMO.

C'mooooon Christmas! Hurry up and be over, get to new year!

Candling was SO exciting! I still can't tell very well with my 12 Black Copper Maran OR my 12 Welsummer eggs... BUT... 14 out of 18 Silkies have made it past Day 7! I am super excited!

I have a chick from an earlier clutch that has hatched four days late...with a twisted neck, legs, and toes... I'm trying everything I can for tonight and then rushing to the store tomorrow for some vitamen supplements.

My Janoel 48 is pretty much full! After the four silkie eggs were removed, I put part of my dozen pure bred bantam assortment inside! I'm also excited for my Ayam Cemanis, which are due to hatch by Dec. 28th. Such an exciting time!!!
