6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

i candled tonight and here are the results. 8 with definate veins 2 maybes and 2 clears for muscovy eggs. 9 with masses and 2 clears for chicken eggs although i can see nothing but aircells in 6 of those eggs. So at the moment it looks like i have 10 of 12 muscovy eggs and 9 of 11 chicken eggs. I'm on day 7/8(my day counter is off from a power outage and i set late at night so the days are a bit inaccurate. All aircells look good with the exception of two chicken egg aircells looking a little big and two rather large aircells on the muscovy eggs. i weighed all the chicken eggs again and will do the math to figure out if i need more humidity, it has been running between 20-40% the last 3 days.

These are some taken today pics. of part of my flock, so my BYM HAL eggs can be mixes of these (plus a few that didn't pose for the photos)

These are the 3 SFH Roos, I pulled the 2 F3 EE Cockerals out today, but they might have been the chicken-daddy to some of my BYM eggs.

& Here is one last horse pic. Notice the size of my hand vs. the horse's ears or eye.
Very pretty birds. That top roo looks a lot like my Hans.

Beautiful horses and mules, everyone! FuzzyHens.. That BABY!!

FeyRaine- lucky horses you guys are getting.. Not many people willing to take all that on at once.

I sold my last horse at the end of the summer.. well- "sold" very cheap to a friend.. I just don't have the time anymore and he was wasting away, much too good a boy for that. He is an ex rope horse and had the golden "been there, done that" easygoing personality that I just melted into. Hubby actually bought him for himself and I stole him, lol.

Anyway he was my handsome boy and I'm glad I still get pics and updates, and I know he can come back here if/when he needs to. <3

He is stunning!
so my ducklings are moving inside their eggs for this hatch! I got a video, but I will have to upload it to youtube or something. I also got pix from my friend who is incubating us some chicken eggs and she cheated and candled two a couple days early and WE HAVE VEINS! woo hoo second try!
Woohoo!! Congrats!

It's always great when you get photos and updates!!! He is very handsome. Love his facial markings!

so I was reading somewhere how a broody somehow managed to hatch out the eggs abotu the same time ............I have noticed some of my eggs seem bigger then others does this equalize out after time or are some developing slower or faster then others?

What happens to a blood ring if it's not detected in time? Do they become an inpenetrable dark mass when trying to candle?
The egg will become rotten and smell like sulfur. It all becomes very clear looking so I get rid of them as soon as I see that.

Dark shelled eggs will glow so you know they are either a clear or a dud so they get broken open and tossed on day 10 usually. I will often give dark shelled eggs more time though.

ok so I should wait to toss my suspected unfertile eggs on ten days or if they smell yucky?
