blackgoat - Your altitude is fine. What's considered "high altitude" is above 5000 feet. When I lived in Las Vegas, NV, (2200 ft) I had some fantastic hatch rates (85% for shipped eggs). Now I'm in Corrales, NM (5200 ft) and I'm lucky to see 20% on shipped eggs. The eggs of breed I want, of course, came from near sea level.
roan - Are your eggs getting tilted in the flat? The cut-out cartons are what I use for lockdown. The rest of the time eggs are in the turner. If you've got shipped eggs, the cutout cartons are great for keeping them upright so the wonky egg cells don't get flipped the wrong way for pipping.
