Most definitely!"If it don't kill ya, ya didn't try hard enough."![]()

Yeah, that's the one!
lol! I am the best at wasting time! I have a lot of practice!![]()
Well, I noticed the "only 10 more days" announcement a few pages back and realized I had better get busy candling!!!
It turns out my mother has never candled eggs! *gasp* So I bundled them up and hauled them to her house (she lives in the basement apartment of my house, lol)... and she was quite impressed! She even got to see one move.![]()
Annnnnd.... 6 of 6 seem to be doing great!
Except that the aircells aren't growing much... time to decrease humidity.
the next one, and the one after that...oh, the plotting and planning...
I'm currently hoping to hatch blue and splash bantam cochin. Assuming I get a couple of these through to a successful hatch, then I'll be going for either
black cochin bantams
brown red and lemon blue cochin bantams
or...work on the LF flock...BBS Copper Marans, CCL or Isbar...or a nice assortment of these.
If I don't do well on this hatch, then that black cochin bantam option will be BBS cochin bantams.
Where is that plotting finger tapping icon when you need it...![]()

Have you starting plotting for the next HAL?
I have quail shaking and pecking, though I can't see a single pip yet! First quail ever so I'm excited! I have about 80 eggs in there still. How can I go to bed now?! I see I designed my schedule to be... chicks... christmas... chicks... new years... chicks... chicks... chicks...
You should have fertile eggs by then for sure! You probably already do; just check for a "bullseye" the next time you make breakfast. (I acutally had a roo fertilizing eggs at 12 weeksWhen do cockerels come into their sexual maturity? Mine will be 7 months in March. I was just thinking that I might have my very own fertile eggs for the Easter HAL!![]()
Wow! 12 weeks? I wouldn't think he'd be big enough! I don't think mine are getting any action. I see one of them try to jump on the pullets that are his age, but they aren't laying yet. I don't think he's trying anything with the laying pullets. At least, not that I've seen. The second cockerel runs around like he owns the place, but I haven't seen him try to jump on anyone. The third one is low on the pecking order, the hens keep pulling out his tail feathers! So he is scared of them! And I'm still not 100% if he is a roo. lol! I thought he was a pullet up until a few days ago when I noticed his neck feathers were the same color as the other male. I will check an egg or two, in case they are being sneaky. lol!You should have fertile eggs by then for sure! You probably already do; just check for a "bullseye" the next time you make breakfast. (I acutally had a roo fertilizing eggs at 12 weeks, he was a quite the little stud but was sent to freezer camp due to a bad attitude)![]()
Yay! so many peeppeeppeeps! No going to bed for you for at least two weeks!I have quail shaking and pecking, though I can't see a single pip yet! First quail ever so I'm excited!
