6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I have four more hours at work today and it is causing me stress. I can hardly wait to get home to sit vigil over the incubator. My poor hubbie is tired of texting me that no changes. I have bugged him every hour on the hour after hearing cheeps late last night. No pips this morning no rocking this morning either. I had about a minute to look at the eggies before I had to leave. If I didn't need to the money to support my addiction to chickens I would have called in today. Ha ha ha!

Congrats to all on the new babies!

Gah! Work is ridiculously slow today and I'm all caught up and looking at fuzzy babies and want to go home to check for external pips!

There were none this morning. I added an extra container with sponge last night when I topped of my first container to keep the humidity up, but with all the running of the furnace this time of year, the humidity is hard to keep up. I also had to adjust my second bator up a little. Last night it seemed to be running hotter than I wanted, I adjusted, but that stupid dial doesn't have any markings, so it's anyone's guess as to how much a smidge on it is. I guess it was 2 degrees instead of 1.

I just might try the black and splash with my BLRW as I like the looks of their splash hens. But the sumatras, I just love the blues so those are the ones I kept. The splash for my Sumatras came out white and greyish blue last summer. I got lots of people saying they were so pretty but to me it was too much white.
that has to be frustrating you want blue chickens but have to keep black and splash for the color to be true every hatch

personally I wanna see rainbow colors come out lol

Excellent garden fertilizer for your vegetables, flowers, shrubs and more! (???) Oh, and I also have a mentally challenged chicken that has to have a bubble bath every two days..?

Sorry for the rapid fire posts but this is going crazy now! LOL

Our last one went from pip to zip in less than 5 minutes!!! And now we have another pip!!! Woohoo!!!

Since I anticipated a 0% hatch rate, I now have 3 confirmed bonus chicks and 1 probable bonus chick!!!

@ronott1 thank you so much for suggesting the carton incubation method!!!

Still trying to catch up on all the posts but I thought I would update you guys. I've got a baby chicky!!!!!!!
