we had two hatch, sadly one didn't make it. This one didn't make it

And this one in comparison with a quarter.

why is she inside a cup?

She can't be with the others until she is able to walk around, upright. They will peck on her. She still looks sleepy. When she is bright and alert, she should be able to walk around better, even with type of bandaging for the splayed legs.

her eyes were ok when she hatched.. it started yesterday. . And I was able to clean it and she opened them. . But today is not really looking good
Could be that the other chicks pecked at her, or only one would do it, if it pecked pretty hard. They are brutal little things at times when they start feeling hungry, they go after toes, eyes, and if there is any bit of red left on the naval area, they will peck at it. :/

did not read the next page to this thread, so I may be repeating others. Vetericyn-ophthalmic gel, is the right choice for her eye problem. Good to keep this handy in your emergency chicken kit! Good luck!

They are all so cute! Do the California whites end up all white or with some spots?

The leghorn dominates so they stay white. They are mixed with Rocks from the California Grey so they lay in the winter and the boys are big enough to process.

Yippee! I have been wanting a nice white egg laying breed too.
