6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

So you cross NN with EE? Do you then have NN that lay colored eggs?

Yes I'm crossing them. I've got one hen that just started laying and she does lay a green egg.

I've got 5 more that will be 17 weeks old on Thursday. So in about 9 to 12 weeks they should start laying and hopefully they will lay green eggs. I'm really hoping for blue but I think that will be several years before that will happen because I'm working with brown eggs layers also, the NN.

Thank you for the response. Very interesting thread.

I finally got that video last night!

I have a nice mix of boys and girls!

The roosters were bothered and noisy but the chicks are very cute!

Great video!!

I got a couple of photos of my chicks today. The blue bantam cochin is from the NYD HAL and the two silkies are the 'friends' I bought for him.

My husband thinks he looks like a sparrow and keeps teasing me about where I got my eggs from. I think he looks like a little Roo. He is sweet despite the attitude he is giving the camera.

These silkies crack me up. They are definitely in their strange dino phase!

The motley crew.

I'll post a picture in a few but I was curious if this roo I have would carry that fatal gene you all were talking about.
