7 1/2. Week old Buckeye Hen or Rooster.

Do I have a hen or a too. 7 1/2 week old buckeye. Purchased from TS as straight run.

Too early to tell by feathers—male specific feathers won’t show up for several weeks yet—but the comb isn’t very large or red so I would think pullet for now

The comb is pretty pale and narrow right now so I'm going with pullet.

I agree, I’m thinking pullet as well

It's a little too early to be certain. Unless they have a very red comb (yours doesn't) early on I usually wait until 12-13 weeks for the male specific feathers to show up. Even at 21 weeks my husband has a hard time telling cockerels from pullets with any certainty (though by that age it's obvious to me).

Right now nothing is indicating male. But in another 3 or 4 weeks it might be a different story
