7 1/2 week old Golden-Laced Wyandotte... hopefully pullet?

Has your hen started laying yet. Mine is 15 weeks old and I don't know when to start expecting eggs from her. I'm a newb at this and still learning this stuff.

My 19-week-old GLW is the second slowest to mature in my flock (only the light brahma appears to be behind her). She's pinking up some in the face but has a long way to go to have the bright red wattles and comb she will need to have to be of laying age.

Thank u for the information. I wanted to learn more about breeds and their egg production so when my cockerel and hens get older I know which ones will be better for breeding for egg production.

She's beautiful! I have 3 that are 9 weeks and they all look like that (well, 2 are blacker and I'm hoping they'll 'golden up'). I guess that means that I'm hoping mine are all girls--or I got ripped off! What is the white chicken with speckles--she's pretty.

Welcome to BYC!
Wyandottes are pretty awesome. What other breeds do you have?

Well, my GLW hasn't changed much in appearance in the last month, so I am leaning more toward her keeping her name, Lynda Carter. She still likes to hang out with our Roo more than with the girls though, and sometimes behaves more like a boy than a girl... I'm pretty sure she is a she though, just a tomboy? Our Roo just started crowing this week, so the ladies will probably start laying soon -- we'll know for 100% sure then, I suppose! But for now, unless we start to see more physical changes (more development of comb and waddles, saddle feathers, etc) we are going on the assumption that she is a pullet... just perhaps a bit confused! LOL ;)

Just finished looking at your hen,,,congrats!!!!!! I have a 6 week old golden laced wyandotte, seems they are a hard breed to sex, so I will be keeping mine either way, rooster or hen. I need a red based rooster to later breed with my coronation sussex. So interesting , I can just sit and stare at my chooks.. lmao he/she is so tame now.
