So...coccidiosis took 7 of my chicks within 3 days despite corid.
The ONE that I expected to die since it started is the lone survivor.
Last night she was breathing heavy and lethargic. I picked her up and made her drink before I went to bed.
This morning she is chirping, and literally shaking her tail feathers. I could barely catch her to make her drink again and now she is EATING!
SO, despite not wanting any roos, if she turns out to be a he, then he is staying and will live a glorious Hugh Heffner life :)
BTW, there were all silkies.

I don't know about using corid, never done it, but maybe you didn't use it long enough? It's not a 100% guaranteed preventative or fix anyway judging by what the users of it say.

Anyway, I use garlic, raw freshly minced stuff in their feed which I premix myself, never had a single case of coccidiosis. Highly recommend it. For context my chickens come from all manner of backgrounds and genetics, are raised under hens and free range, and I've raised many hundreds in a mixed flock, no all-in and all-out style.

Best wishes.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad that the lil one made it! Spoil it rotten!

Thanks...I was treating them with Corid with which I've had good results with I'm the past with older chicks.

Baby chick #8 is still alive, eating, drinking, and pooping "normal". I put a stuffed animal in the brooder box with her/him.

Tomorrow will be day 5 on Corid. Sunday I'm going to start probiotics and wait another week before letting her in the coop with the older chicks.

How did you know it was cocidius I bought some chicks at a auction last week and they all are doing well except one, I have been feeding them the medicated chick food since day one and keeping only 5 in each brooder and cleaning it often they all with the exception of the 1 are energetic and eat and drink normal,I have been treating the sickly one with antibiotics and she is still trying she eats and drinks but today I found 1 bloody stool in each brooder,I'm super scared

Thank you ,the sickly chick passed,I haven't seen any bloody stools in the other brooder, but I have seen more in the one that she was in ,I'm treating them all with antibiotics.I learned a lesson no more chicks from auctions,It really hurts to see that suffering.

Awe, I am so sorry! I really wish I knew more to tell you. I know it hurts to see them sick, but try to remember that you are doing everything you know to help them. That means a whole lot! I hope it all gets better soon! I am sure someone with more knowledge will be able to help. If you want to send someone who has been here longer a pm, everyone here is really nice, they will help you.
