7 different breeds - 6 out of 7 pullets???

I am personally not convinced the lavender is a rooster but I am not an expert either. My chicks are 5 weeks and my rooster is clearly a rooster (Welsummer) I also have some roos in my meat chickens but that doesn’t matter.

Thank you! I'm counting on the lavender being a she until she lets me know otherwise! It's just that with the Delaware being a boy, I don't have any wiggle room and would need to rehome one if I have more when I really love all these chicks. The lavender's body is girly looking to me, she always holds herself horizontally (as opposed to the Delaware, who is already adopting a more vertical stance at times), and after her little comb and hint of wattles popped out, they haven't continued to grow. Two weeks ago the lavender had more comb and wattle than the Delaware but that's certainly no longer true. We'll see! I'll update here in any case. Hope you're okay with your Welsummer being a boy. I really like that breed! And I think 5 weeks is a cute age -- lots of change happening!

We were not planning on a rooster but we live on 10 acres so we are not restricted to hens only. He can stay as long as he isn’t aggressive towards any of us. I have three children and the youngest is four. I had a feeling one of my Welsummers would be a rooster when I got them. I ordered two and the hatchery put three in the box. Welsummer roosters are gorgeous so I hope he stays friendly so he can stick around! I handle him daily.

I wouldn't worry too much about your Barred Rock for now. :) She's probably developing at a quicker rate than the others.

As for the Lav Orp, my cockerel's comb/wattles were bright pink and similar in size to most females at point of lay (at about a week or two older than yours). Just for reference:

Of course, each individual matures differently....this is simply my experience. :)

Thanks, Alex! You are always so helpful. I will keep an eye on my Viola but I would be shocked if she looked as "mature" as your (very handsome) guy in the next week or two. The barred rock hasn't been setting off my "roodar" at all in person but she does photograph with a prominent, rosy-ish comb. Her coloring is very pulletish (pullet-y?) so I don't worry about her sex too much.

You're more than welcome, and thank YOU for the sweet compliment! :D
"Roodar," that's cute. :love
As would I. :) Viola isn't even close to such an advanced stage in development. Fingers crossed you have a beautiful lavender lady in your flock! :fl He was one gorgeous Orp....too bad his hormones took over. :barnie

Best not to at this point. :D :love
