7 dust ?

My local supply store doesn't sell Sevin Dust, but they have another poultry dust; the active ingredient is permethrin.
Does anyone have experience with this? I bought some anyways but wonder how safe/effective it is....

And really, aren't there any non-chemical alternatives for mite control? I feel like I'm poisoning the poor peas.

Kathy, I trust your judgement, so I guess it must be safe.

If you sprinkle it where they sit or dust bathe will that do the trick?
Or does it have to be applied directly to the bird?

Sevin Dust is usually found at Walmart in the garden section, whereas Poultry Dust is usually found at farm supply stores like TSC. Both work just as well as the other. I buy Poultry dust for the cost as they both work the same.

So, I went to WalMart for the 3rd time this morning to get more Sevin Dust and I noticed another container on the side of the original Sevin Dust (red container) that I normally buy. Has anyone saw this one before? It says
Safe to use on vegetables, ornamentals, fruits, trees and shrubs
I called the 1-800 on the internet and talked to the a rep of the company and she said that it is food grade and that this one is BETTER than the Sevin Dust in the red container. She said this one is "organic" because it is made from Chrysanthemums Flowers. I bought a container this morning but will still researching to make sure that it is safe to use on the birds as well as to kill ants (which is why I got it).

I noticed that the Sevin Dust in the red container kills over 65 insects and the other container kills over 250 insects. Who knew that there were that many insects. I will have to get a list of those 250 insects.

1000

Check it out Kathy and report back to us. :p
