I decided to do this thread as my review and where i will also post when i do my first set of eggs. I have never incubated eggs before so this will be a learning process for me.

some time in the next week i will get some fresh laid eggs from my cousin who has chickens and roosters of his own so i can see if i can hatch my own. I will be getting pics of his flock so if you all could help me to identify the breeds that would be great.

this is the box that the incubator came in its a little banged up but the machine looks to be OK nothing was broken.

now my next challenge is to find a place to place it. I say its a challenge because i have 5 kids and they don't leave anything that i have alone.

I don't wanna discourage you, but that incubator is probably not going to work well for you. Aside from it being cheap and not good quality, it has design flaws.

To start with, get a thermometer and a hygrometer you know to be accurate and put those in there. The display on it might very well not be right, so you need your own instruments in there to make sure. This is gonna take up space for two or three eggs but if you want a chance for some to hatch you'll have to do it.

If you find that it holds temperature okay, the next problem is turning the eggs. This thing is designed with no thought to the fact that eggs need to be turned - there's just no way to do it. Only way I can think of would be to prop one end of it up with a couple of books or something and then change the side that's propped every eight hours, or more frequently if you can, making sure to do it an odd number of times a day.

I hope it works for you, but I've read a lot of negative reviews about it.

OK i went to my cousins to day and he had 3 eggs in the coop from today. unfortunaly something has been getting after his chickens so he lost 5 of them. Not sure what got them.

Here are some pick of his 2 roosters and what he has left so figure out what breeds they are. I do know they are most likely mix breeds.

here is a pic of most of his flock. his 2 girls on the upper left are recovering from something not sure what though and his 2 roosters are in this picture also

You shouldn't see condensation like that on the incubator; it means the humidity is too high. Did you get a hygrometer to monitor it like I recommended?

I think your friend's bird Hyde is a Barred Rock..not sure if his coloring is barred or cuckoo...the white hens probably White rock, the ones that have featherless backs are probably being bred too much (not enough hens per rooster..should be about 10-12 hens per rooster if the roosters are allowed to be together or 2+ hens per rooster if the roosters can't see each other so they don't feel the need to dominate). The hens that look like Hyde are Barred rock too, the blackish rooster kind of looks partridge, if he has yellow legs maybe Partridge rock...did your friend order an assortment of Rocks?
