Hello!
We got some chicks from the local feed store in March. All were supposed to be pullets. We got 2 Columbian Wyandottes and 1 Barred Rock.
They are 7 months old now and only the Barred Rock is laying.
I am outside watching them because we just moved them into the larger coop with the rest of our chickens and I wanted to see how they’re getting along. I noticed the one in question trying to mount the barred rock. Then I noticed the feathers seem to be different and there is a point at the back of its comb.
All this has me wondering if we may have a rooster. We haven’t heard any crowing and haven’t suspected this at all.
Anyways, here are some pics. The one I am wondering about is on the right in the pictures where two of them are shown.
Is it possible for a rooster to not crow yet at 7 months of age?
Thank you!

REALLY?!?! I thought I was crazy for suspecting this. Why would it have crowed yet?
He's trying to stay under the radar:lau

Some don't crow that often:confused:Give him time to mature. I have a cockerel close to that age and he doesn't crow that much. I had another one that crowed at around 4months and never let up. Each one is different.

You lucky so and sos with your late blooming cockerels! My boys started at 8 weeks and crow half the day. :he:lol:

Wow! Good to know! And the comb and wattle are not much different from the other either. Is that normal?

It can be. They can grow at a different rate. I would just give him some time. He's a nice looking fella:)

Thank you!
My husband is thrilled! He has been wanting a rooster but I’ve been leery because we have 3 young kids. Our friends have an aggressive rooster that goes after all the kids and I don’t want that.
