I've had roosters who didn't grow decent saddle feathers until they were closer to two, and I have a sweetie at the moment who didn't get his until he was almost three years old

It has been a rollercoaster! We’ll see what happens. He hasn’t crowed since earlier this morning. It really seemed as though our dominant hen attacked him after he crowed. Maybe he’s afraid to do it again?

Wow, this is interesting! Maybe he’s just a very late bloomer all-around!

He really could be just a late bloomer. I LOVE roosters, so when I get one I watch them grow obsessively. I've noticed that mine seem to be slow to crow and mate, if I have a very dominant rooster or hen around them. I always considered it self preservation lol

UPDATE:
It crowed this morning for the first time! several times.
And some recent pics. It still doesn’t fully look like a rooster.

Well now it looks more manly. Yay, we finally know.
