Hi all!
My young Olive Egger lady has been a faithful every day layer since she began about 2 months ago. She's skipped a day maybe once or twice, but overall has been really popping them out. Last week I began to feel concerned after she hadn't laid an egg for 3 days. I figured she was probably taking a well deserved break. On day 5 I decided to give her a thorough inspection, she's been active, eating, drinking, with regular poos. Her vent looked clear, comb a good color, no respiratory problems, lice or mites. She lives in an enclosed and controlled stress-free environment and eats balanced organic food supplemented with fresh fruits/veggies and with oyster shell available.
Today I went to clean out the roost area and lay fresh hay when I discovered the egg. It was right under the roost bar as if she passed it while sleeping. I thought at first it was cracked, as it appeard to have cooked whites around it (I live in FL). I brought it inside washed it off to discover no cracks, then opened it to investigate the insides which look normal and healthy.
Is this normal?
