My chicks are hatchery chicks, so who knows if they are mixed breed. They are about 7 weeks old. One of the barred rocks I am sure is female, the other I don't know. I go back and forth every day. I already have one cockerel I can't keep. I really hope this one is a pullet.

This is what my chick looked like a couple weeks ago and nearly everyone on here said it was a cockerel. I think I may have to wait with fingers crossed.:idunno

My barred rock ended up being a pullet, and a fluffy one at that! She was just a late bloomer. This is her. It's difficult to tell my barred rocks apart now. They look so much alike.

COLOR WISE, TYPICALLY A ROO WILL BE WHITE WITH BLACK STRIPES. A PULLET WILL BE BLACK WITH WHITE STRIPES. SURE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE PURITY OF THE BREED TOO. I AM NOT A VETERAN OF CHICKENS. I HAVE 3 BR CHICKS FROM A HATCHERY ALSO, 3 WEEKS OLD. JUST BEEN READING A LOT ABOUT THEM. GLAD YOU GOT PULLETS
