So chicks are now 7 weeks old. No more fluffy butts....instead a whole lotta chicken dander! Feathers and colorings are getting interesting. They seem to get a long well - we do not notice much in the way of problems or fighting at this point. We added another roost, and increased the dowel size to give them a more comfortable perch size. We did want at least 1 male, and the BJG and the dark brown Leghorns were straight run - it appears we have 3 males from these straight runs (2 Dark Brown Leghorn males and 1 BJG male). There is a question on the Barred Plymouth Rock - one is developing a redder comb, but not sure if it is normal variation within females or not. The Barred Plymouth Rocks were sold sexed and our receipt says pullets, so hoping that they both are sexed correctly.
