There are some valid reasons for genetic enhancements that are not going to cause folks to grow antennas, etc. We can also help ourselves by growing our own gardens and preserving our own food in our pantries and rely less upon the grocery store. Modifying genes isn't going to kill us, it will make crops more productive to feed the masses. We do need to maintain diversity despite the need to be economical. I began small scale farming/homesteading about 12 years ago because I didn't like what I was seeing with our food supply becoming 'industrial'. I even study and use wild plants, weeds, as food sources and am often astonished how much that grows in my yard and along the roadside is great food.
If you want to be real concerned about foodstuffs worry about the hormones and antibiotic use. That is what will kill.
