7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Ok, I am in! I will be setting 12 chicken eggs. I am so excited! I was a new hatcher last year. I had an LG incubator, then got the Hova Bator. We bit the bullet and decided to get an amazing, 20 count, non rotating, Brinsea incubator used on Amazon for $60. When we got the package in the mail, we ended up with the Brinsea Eco Octagon with the egg turner that was NEW (worth $400?). We called the company and they said to keep it. We were still only charged the $60. What a deal! I tested it and 4 eggs out of 4 hatched! This is such a difference with the hundreds of eggs I lost with the other 2 bators. After I plugged it in, I was suprised when I heard peeps because I forgot about it. I didn't have to keep adding water to it. It literally did everything for me. Awesome!

The Brinsea incubator with fixings is a godsend for folks who travel or want a weekend away without worry. Enjoy! (I do the same as Ron with the Brinsea and Genesis... More headroom and viewing ability for hatching)

Hey, Ron!
What size pan is used or recommended for the cinnamon rolls? They look really yummy and I bet my coffee klatsch would swoon over them.

9x13 or a jelly roll pan if you have one. They do better with the 2 inch sides though--lots of gooey caramel needs something to hold it in.

The caramel with pecans on the bottom of the pan is like candy!

Awesome! I bet Amazon will be selling a few more used Brinseas in the near future.

I have 2 of the Octo 20 Adv Ex's. I use one for incubating and one to hatch in. They are wonderful. Good luck with your hatch!

From a timing perspective, things weren't working out for me to set on the 11th. I had to go with some shipped eggs and if I waited that long they would be 9 days old so I decided to set them last night. I was also being impatient. :) I ended up setting 9 RIR I ordered from ebay and 13 of my own eggs which are White Rock/Red Ranger X (interesting to see what that will yield) and White Rock/Dark Cornish X. The BCM I ordered weren't going to make it in time so I had them delay the order until the new year.
I want to see this cross too! keep us posted

OK I got the Bator today I am going to use. This will be my first. Is anyone familiar with the Brower 11400-3? It is a round metal one that looks old. It will hold 18.

I have seen pictures of them. It should work fine but make sure that the wafer thermostat is good.

Check into information about maintenance for them.
