i would try that 

I think I've figured an easy way to extend that roost. A 2/4 flat ways on siding should do it without messing with the chickens too much. They sure don't like their world messed with too much.

I've had an exciting day with Duckling. She's going to be the death of me! Not to mention herself!! She was about eight stairs up before I could blink. I got up a step or two before she fell backwards. I caught her in the crook of my arm as she was flying. The gate will always be up from now on!
No bread today, but I did kinda sorta maybe let my sourdough expand all over the counter. I lost track of things after feeding it, and didn't get a second jar started.
