7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

Just peeping in to announce that we are proud parents of two baby chicks so far. The first one hatched around I want to say 9 am and the second one by around 12 or 1. So far no other pipping but I have high hopes being that these are just backyard who knows hatching eggs, but after candling them in the duration, they all but one so far, look to be good to go. I guess time will tell, but for now, I am like eeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkk!!!! Such a proud mama!!

Yes, it made a heck of a mess and seemed to be a rush to get out once it heard the first one peeping. Can you imagine how I felt when I heard what I thought is peeping, was listening, laid my head back down and then my hubby said there is a chick in there lol! I hopped up so fast, only to see a little hole being pecked through rofl!! Sorry about any glare, the small glass window on the top of my incubator, is only so big, so had a hard time getting a decent pic lol! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!

Congratulations!!

We've got a big storm coming through our part of Kansas tonight. Took the incubator to a friends house. They have a generator. Grabbed our chicks and am taking them to pops house in case power goes out. They have a fire place. Wish us luck they are thinking 9 inches mixed sleet rain and snow.

We got our snow. A lot, and now, we are dipping into the low digits, and some places are even below zero. My chicken friends and myself are hurrying out there in the mornings and grabbing eggs before they freeze, and checking out the chickens. They are not liking it one bit!

On another thread, someone said that the governor declared Missouri in a state of emergency.
And now, Texas having Tornadoes hit! We have children and grandchildren that went there for Christmas, visiting other side of family. They are supposed to be home Tues. Not sure if they were near this or not..haven't heard yet!
