7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

It will be interesting to see if the rest of the babies have naked necks (?dominant rooster) or if any of the other roos' got action. I am assuming (and could very well be wrong) that the naked neck is a dominant feature?
I was reading some posts about the naked neck gene and there is multiplier effect depending on the number of genes. I think they said it is not complete if there is only one and that gives them a "bow Tie".

It will be great seeing what hatches for you.

I'm still only at 2 pips and starting to get really nervous about the other eggs. I'm officially on day 21. And great post, @Sally Sunshine
Happy New Years eve to all.... From one addicted chicken person to all the others. AND there was just to many cute fuzzy s butts on here. Going to set eggs the first of January. So much for the resolution not to hatch.. Here is my eggs cream crested legbars partiage brahma/ neckneck cross light brown eggs white marans, dark brown wheaten americans, Happy Hatching to all. Back to reading Caught up last night and behind this afternoon!! PS I am going to wipe dirt off...LOL
I'm setting tomorrow too!
One of your silkie eggs was a month old when you set it?!? And it's about to hatch?!? That is crazy and awesome! Wow! I can hear my Serama peeping a bit and it looks like I have a wrong end pipping Silkie. I am really hoping for paint and lavender chicks and most of all... girls!!
Yup. Date on the egg is 11/9 and it was the first to pip! :fl that you get some paints & lavs for you!
Patience... yeah, yeah - how long is that going to take??? I'm pretty sure my first pipped is dead-in-shell. The others are moving slow (which I know is normal). I still have 5 hours until New Years, but I'll feel so much better when the first baby arrives. Congrats to those with chicks already. For everyone else, I'm right there with you... still waiting. Things seem to go so much faster the first time I hatched eggs...maybe spring/summer had something to do with it?
I'm sorry about the first egg! :hugs
I woke up this morning a silkie/easier egger mixed hatch. All that was left was the one that piped the wrong way it's been over 18 hours so I helped it it was all good so here they are

Exciting times for sure!

11 out so far, 4 more to go. I had to open the 'bator, one of my zippers somehow poked its leg out while zipping and was stuck there for quite a while. So, I cracked the top on the 'bator and the stuck fuzzy, pulled the empty shells, added more water and quickly candled the remaining eggs. 3 are internally pipped and 1 may be gone. :fl for the stragglers!

It's ok. I found someone close with new chicks. I don't know what kind I will get for a buddy for it yet. She named about 6 different kinds. I will try to get it tomorrow.
