7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

They have been together. I have just never checked for fertility. I just read about how this weekend. I just got the one roo for my Lavenders and protection. The other roo was supposed to be a pullet, but wasn't;)

They lay green I am pretty sure.
Usually, sometimes they will miss the blue egg shell gene.

Green eggs are a color combination of blue and brown=green.

A blue egg shell covered by a brown coating.

They are not supposed to be "olive eggers". They should carry double blue. Some of the second imports are having issues with only having 1 copy of the blue gene.

I read about that!

Cull for that I suppose. It is harder to tell with the roosters(or longer to tell). How does the new line look? Are they up to Standard?

The new line sucks. To everyone. They are ugly. But the orignal line is scarce and inbreeding has its problems

I saved 2males from the original lines that i liked (there is no sop here). I hatched several dozen second import birds. I kept 6 females to breed with my males. It is an experiment in progress
