Sounds like I have some hope. I'll give him and his girls till Spring. I also have 2 black mixed in with him. His dad was a English blue. Gorgeous till a two legged predator got him. Bad enough around here having to worry about four legged varmits.

Totally understand u there!! I had 2 lavender orps that were killed by a bird or owl then my whole flock of 18 that was just about to start to lay any day my dog ripped through the fence and killed them all as well as my 3 ducks in another pen. When i found him a new home another dog broke in and killed my parent birds i just bought of the black english roo and 2 lavender hens. The ones i jave now that are the black lavender crosses are the off spring of the ones who were killed.
I then started over from scratch with new chicks after my valentine's day massacure by dog did now that i have started over and a few dogs less in my pack all has been good

I will be locking down 5 shipped eggs tomorrow at 10 pm. 3 AC and 2 AC crosses. they all hatch!!!!! I can't wait to see what happens!!!!! Good luck everyone!!!!!

I set on the 10th due to the age of my eggs. Tonight i did my final candle and 36 out of 40 are in lock down. Woo Hooo !! Had 5 BCM eggs that i couldn't see in except to tell they have developed so those are in to but couldn't see movement like in all the others.

A picture from todays egg collectionPullet SFH, BCM, pullet GCM, Isabelle Leghorn, pullet isbar. Thank goodness for the pullets! 21 eggs went into lockdown. Currently 16 have hatched and more are pipping. Today is day 21. I've got an incubator full of SFH and Isabelle leghorns!

Oh my. The worst I got hit was a skunk that took 9 six week olds in one night. Ate their heads off and left the rest, sickening. Thought I had the problem fixed and he came back the next night and got three more.
I had a dog once that ate two of my roosters. I cured him of that. He was a great dog around them after that.

Yes, the aircell gets much larger right before a chick is going to internally pip. the membrane draws down from the egg. You can see how it's down the side of the egg now instead of mostly on the top.
