Nice!

Ducks are so cute!

I can't keep up today!
I did eggtopsies a few hours ago. It looks like the chicken eggs all died on the same day as the duck eggs (this batch of duck eggs, which were set on the 18th). Without temperature fluctuations or anything else coming to mind, I don't know what happened.
I also have a picture of the filled bread bootie.
But first a cutie!!

I love the chili boot!

Usually heat is the cause of them all dying on the same day.

Ugh, my mother, father and sister-in-law(s) are visiting and its difficult to hover over the 'bator with 3 other people standing there! Maybe a little selfish of me, but get outta the way folks  :D

Hi, I am pretty good! My son had strep over Christmas and I got it too, but barely. It actually has been nice to have a long break from things and take it easy. He can't eat so I haven't even cooked!

I am hatching more silkies from the breeder I get most of my eggs from. I very sadly, and I hate to tell you this, lost most all my lavender and porcelain and all but one of my paint silkies to a determined family of raccoons.

. I probably cried like I had lost my firstborn. I am mostly recovered and I still have my last 7 silkies, a paint rooster, black and showgirl hens and showgirl rooster. I think they hatched in August or Sept. so it will be awhile before they lay.

I am so glad you are hatching your own eggs! How many do you have, from what colors? I set mine on the 11 th and they are doing nothin' right now.

I hope your holidays have been good, sounds like you were super busy! How are the kiddos? Do they get excited for chicks??
Raccoons are terrible!

Ok, I am so excited for these pips!! But when did everyone set theirs? I'm not expecting any pips until tomorrow - or maybe Friday.....I feel left out!!!

Absolutely beautiful photos everyone is posting!! I love the horse and all the chickens, and the adorable cutie, and the chili boot!

Happy hatching!
Chickens were the 11th. Quail was the 14th. Ducks a week before the chicken eggs.

And everyone else there too!

May I ask what why people build a pond? Is it a dry area normally? Up here some people trench and drain the low spots on worked land. We don't do it (our land's full of sloughs, just not going to happen) but others do. Pond building is non existent here so I'm not familiar with this.

We were dry in the 80's but we've been really wet these last years. We got totally flooded in 2014, as in 3+ feet water through the farmyard with grain in the bins, it took out all the fences through 5 quarters of pastureland and all that fun stuff...so I sure feel for you guys. It's an awful thing.
