It happens sometimes--It seems that you can lose chicks for about 3 days after they hatch. I think it has to do with organ damage or the organs not starting up correctly.

I don't like to see them suffer.

I lost 5 chicks :-( The others all look very healthy. -- But I am nervous. They are in a brooder outside and tonight will get chilly! Brooder temps holding well at 32 degrees - nervous about how it will do at 20

I do. I still have chicks that were due Friday hatching lol. One just hatched and 2 are pipped. Then, so far, two that were due yesterday are pipped.

Pipped! That means......soon!

Next batch due in 12 days.

Ha..I have some going into lock down this weekend. Wasn't expecting it to happen, but my ..ahem..very own rooster, is being the man. I can't pass up the opportunity of hatching some from him before I .. may have to get rid of him. It's according if he is a once in a while crower, or an all day long crower. Will see. So far, so good!
