Yaay, they figured it out..smart little things aren't they? Well, most of the time.

I'm glad it's not as cold also. I like to leave light off at night. I think I turned it off to quickly and they did not know which way to go to get to the plate. The night light on another timer might give them the opportunity to get to the plate in time. I had been turning light off in their box while they were in the house but leaving the room light on till they got under plate then turned room light off. They'll get used to it soon. None of them were cold last I checked. That's three times to the barn tonight.

That is why I checked on them. You never know when they will get stuck out from under the brooder plate.

Also, it looks like all 32 of them are under the premier plate that is rated for 20 or so.

Is that the larger plate? They must be scrunched pretty close in there to fit. Still thinking on buying one.

I moved the NYD chicks to the garage!

Now the bed room is mine again!

We are having super cold temps for the next few days. My wife is meaner than me. Chicks by the fireplace.

Mine are under two brooder plates--a brinsea and a Premier1. They are figuring out the auto chick water fountain too!

Doing well but when the light goes out I will have to make sure they go under the brooder plate.

That's right scaring them does scare them under the plate. Just didn't tie it together with sleep time. Makes them more street wise as well.
Yeah it's 3:00 am and I'm checking on the chickens
Going back to bed. Argh!!! They were fine. 50* in the barn all standing around the outside the plate.

I have the small premier1 plate and two of the small brinsea eco glow plates. Premier1 sells an extra small that is for 15 chicks too.
