"8" Month Old hen still not laying - Why oh why?

Got my first egg this morning! It was soft shelled and not in the laying box. Broken on the floor of the run. Eggciting though!
Now.. To look up remedies for soft shell...
Anything other than oyster shell and acv?

I've had chickens for years and I still get excited when i find eggs in the nestboxes !!

Now just waiting for mine to lay there first egg I put a couple new hens in the flock. They are all 8 months old. Will that cause my other hens not to start laying yet?

I have an 8 month old Buff Orpington who was raised with the rest of the 5 others in the flock. She's the only one who hasn't started to lay. She is at the bottom of the pecking order, so I think she may be stressed. She recently decided to stay on the roost instead of jumping down each morning. Been a real stressor for me. I'm trying to coax her down with treats, but end up picking her up and setting her down. I wonder if she will ever lay an egg???
