Hello everyone, this is my first year having chickens, so when I saw one of my lovely ladies losing some of her feathers and looking a little melancholy, I was concerned. She is an EE; I have another EE and a Partridge Rock, but neither of them are losing feathers. My partridge has been a little fussy with the others in the past, particularly around food. I have put out other food sources, and I have never witnessed her do anything super violent. I am in Western Washington, so it is getting cold and rainy for the winter. Her tail feathers started getting raggedy around a week ago, and she has been losing lots of neck and face feathers in the past few days. I know this is an irregular time for her to molt, so I just wanted to check in and see if this is normal or if she is being picked on/has some sort of illness. I have attached some pics of her feathers for reference. Thank you everyone! chi.jpg ci.jpg

Definitely molting. She’ll look like a zombie chicken before it’s all over. 5 of mine went through it and they are shiny and new again.

My Easter egger hens looks exactly like yours (could be twins) and is going through the same thing! The others EEs are fine. Mine hatched in April 2020. I was concerned too but all the knowledgeable people here made me feel better. Mine may be a little further in to the molt though as she looks a bit more rough
